Depending on how you use Marketplace Guardian, we may collect:
- Account information such as name, email address, and authentication identifiers.
- Content you submit for analysis, including marketplace listings, conversation text, screenshots, and related notes.
- Usage and device information such as app interactions, diagnostic logs, approximate location derived from IP address, and device or browser type.
- Support communications you send to us.
How We Use Information
We use information to provide scam-detection features, operate and improve Marketplace Guardian, communicate about product and support matters, and protect users and our services from fraud or abuse.
AI Processing
Marketplace Guardian uses artificial intelligence to evaluate content you choose to submit and to generate risk assessments, explanations, and safer reply drafts. AI outputs are informational decision-support tools. They are not guarantees, legal advice, or definitive findings about any person or transaction.
When you use analysis or reply features, the conversation text and/or screenshots you submit are sent to OpenAI for processing through Marketplace Guardian’s Firebase Cloud Functions. OpenAI acts as a subprocessor that processes this content to provide those features. We do not independently control OpenAI’s retention or model-training practices; processing for these features is also subject to OpenAI’s policies. Exact retention wording should be confirmed with legal counsel for your jurisdiction.
You will be asked for permission in the app before analysis content is sent for AI processing.
Cookies
Our website may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for basic site operation, security, and understanding aggregate traffic patterns. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect site functionality.
Third-Party Services
We use trusted service providers to operate Marketplace Guardian, including:
- Firebase (Google) — authentication (Firebase Auth), database (Cloud Firestore), file storage (Firebase Storage), Cloud Functions that host our AI gateway, and Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics 4) for aggregate product usage metrics.
- OpenAI — processing of analysis content (text and/or screenshots) and generation of safer reply drafts, invoked only via our Cloud Functions using a server-side API key.
Account data such as authentication identifiers, profile information, and related app data are stored in Firebase Auth, Cloud Firestore, and Firebase Storage as applicable. These providers process information as needed to perform services on our behalf. Our apps and website may also link to third-party marketplaces or resources that we do not control.
Data Retention
We retain information only as long as needed to provide the service, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal requirements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data from within the app (Delete Account) or by contacting us; deletion removes your Auth account, profile, owned community reports, and related storage objects we control, subject to applicable legal exceptions. Content processed by OpenAI is subject to OpenAI’s policies as a subprocessor — we do not claim retention periods for OpenAI that we do not control.
Security
We implement administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Marketplace Guardian is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
